About Kate in her own words...

Born within the sound of Bow Bells, the essence of the East End of London must have infiltrated itself into my tiny bones as I’ve always felt great fascination for the area.

Most of my childhood was spent around Muswell Hill and Camden, then South of the Thames after returning from Art college; the East End, becoming prominent during my photographic styling years: the crumbling photographic studios, Spitalfields fruit market and the old cafés now all swept away to lure tourists to sleek restaurants and boutiques.
Writing started early in my life with my first, fully crayon-illustrated novel contained in a now moth-soft exercise book. I can just about recall the satisfaction at starting a new chapter, smoothing down the paper, pencil at the ready. Nothing much has changed except it's my fingers now poised over a keyboard, words in my mind ready to appear on a screen.

All my books have their feet firmly placed in London, often the East End as well as other favourite haunts - Bloomsbury, Brixton, Hampstead, Epping Forest, any section of the Thames, Kew . . .

My work is said to be highly visual, partly due to my studying film and photography at college, but also thanks to my mother who, although having little time or money being a single parent, made sure we visited many inspirational places in the UK. These landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes have stayed with me providing much material for world-building throughout my writing path.

My other passions . . . friends and family of course; greyhounds - especially our current black coated Spanish rescue dog - wild swimming, wildlife, snug cafés, second hand emporiums, getting my hands into earth; Mark's cakes and a great cup of tea.
