Kate's blog - writing and other stuff

A journal of musings since 2009.
Welcome to the attic of my mind. Mind the stairs, click the light on and have a rummage around my thoughts on writing, the art of everything second-hand, the natural world, music . . . just about everything. Probably not so much about sport.

Before the blog - and the existence of online collating/showing off one's stuff in general - my collections of photographs, musings and general ephemera sat about in notebooks, albums, boxes, and my mind. When this remarkable thing (blogging) came along it seemed a wonderful way to both harness and reveal all the various elements - even if no one ever looked at it except me, family and friends.

For the reporter side of me it's a great way to indulge in a rant about topics that I feel impassioned about, and to then illustrate with my photographs or artwork. It also serves as a rolling resumé of my writing and painting, as well as a record of our family events and a portrait of the seasons - what jam has been made from which found fruit, garden developments, the year's dog walks, and precious London/sea visitations.

As I have Luddite leanings - encapsulated in much of my writing - I don't overly trust the foreverness of the internet so have made the blog into books, mainly as a family diary which could be investigated by candlelight on a winter's eve in some future time . . .
